A lack of training and confidence in the insertion and removal of IUDs and implants has been well documented as a barrier to provision of these methods in non-specialty settings. Proactively providing support to clinicians responsible for provision and removal of these methods can ensure that patients can use these methods when desired. For non-procedural methods, providers must be aware of evidence-based best practices for initiation and changing of methods, including timing and necessary evaluation prior to starting a method.
