Clinical protocols are organization-specific policies that serve as a roadmap for how to provide high quality care to patients. QI work often is linked to clinical protocols, as these policies articulate the same evidence-informed standards of care and expected practices that improvement teams are seeking to implement consistently across their CHCs. Clinical protocols not only can facilitate the standardization of specific practices and workflow processes at a CHC, but also serve as a training and supervisory tool. As a result, improvement teams may wish to revisit clinical protocols related to contraceptive services provision (e.g., contraceptive management, contraceptive counseling), as part of this project, ensuring comprehensive protocols are in place and reflect current evidence and best practices.
